What We Ask

Small Asks
  1. Please, read and understand our Event Conditions. If you don't consider them reasonable, don't attend;
  2. The event is conducted in a public open space. Common law applies to all participants regarding safe, peaceable and courteous conduct in the use of the cycleway as part of our event space;
  3. The size of the event space makes oversight of every element logistically challenging. We will therefore ask you to:
    1. Report any obvious misconduct, offensive, suspicious or unsafe behaviour for referral to authorities;
    2. Consider the impact of your actions on the enjoyment of the event by other participants and the future of the event;
    3. Bear Witness. If you see behaviours by others that risk safety or enjoyment by families, have a quiet, respectful word.
  4. Exhibitors or participants reported as 'of concern' will lose their event rights for access to any prizes or incentives and forfeit the right to future event entry;
  5. If you're moving through the cycleway, watch your passing speed - keep it slow and safe for the enjoyment of participants - this is not a competitive event;
  6. If your kids have not ridden in low light or at night, make sure you get some practice runs in before the event to get them familiar with the challenges of night riding - keep them safe, well lit, teach them how to keep others safe;
  7. Play nice. Inspire others. Be an exemplar of safe behaviour.

Our Asks for On-Water Participants
  1. For the safety of all on-water participants, standard regulations of safe on-water behaviour as required by Roads and Maritime Services apply - for details, see http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/maritime/safety-rules/rules-regulations/index.html
  2. As the event will be taking place in low light or darkness, particular attention is requested by On-Water participants to being sufficiently illuminated so others can see you and you can see others. The depth of the waters of Lake Tuggerah precludes participation by most vessels other than kayaks, so we draw your attention to the following link: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/maritime/safety-rules/rules-regulations/night-safety.html#Rowing/paddlevessels
  3. As an extra precaution, we ask that all paddlers display a bow and stern light as a minimum level of lighting. being an event that celebrates the illumination of human motion, we welcome additional lighting enhahcenment of your craft, noting the overriding principle of safe boating behaviours.
